Regulatory frameworks and financial development for renewable energy transition in Vietnam: an overview and recommendations

Abstract
Regulatory frameworks and financial development for renewable energy transition have been widely discussed in the literature over the past two decades, especially in developing countries. This study presented an overview of regulatory frameworks, financial development, and renewable energy development. The study also made some recommendations for promoting renewable energy in Vietnam. The government of Vietnam has introduced several initiatives and reforms based on a top-down central planning approach to achieve the ambitious targets of a sustainable energy system, but there remain challenges. In this context, financial systems, in particular the banking system, play a central role in the development of renewable energy through green credit in Vietnam.
