Developing Vietnam's private economy until 2030 with a vision to 2045

The importance of the private economy was affirmed by the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which emphasized strongly developing Vietnam's private economic sector in terms of quantity, quality, efficiency, and sustainability to become an important driving force for the country's economic development. During the period 2010 - 2022, the contribution of the non-state economic sector to GDP increased from 47.54% in 2010 to 50.46% in 2022. However, the development of the private economy in Vietnam still faces several limitations, including weak linkages among private enterprises and the lack of leading enterprises capable of guiding small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in domestic and international value chains. This study used data from the Vietnam Statistical Yearbook together with statistical, descriptive and synthesis methods to analyze the development of the private economy during 2010 - 2023. Based on the findings, the paper proposes solutions to promote the development of Vietnam's private economy through 2030, with a vision to 2045.
