Opportunities and challenges from the population ageing issue and solutions for Vietnam

Vietnam officially entered the phase of population ageing in 2011, when the number of people aged 60 and over accounted for 10.1% of the country’s total population. Vietnam’s population ageing rate is increasing, leading to huge socio-economic challenges. This paper analyzes the current population ageing in Vietnam and evaluates the opportunities and challenges of this issue. Based on the paper’s findings, some policy solutions are proposed to help Vietnam adapt to population ageing.
