Analyzing the profit of stakeholders in the plantation wood value chain in Dak Lak province

Abstract

This study analyzes the profits of stakeholders in the plantation wood value chain in Dak Lak province. The analysis of the added value and net added value of these stakeholders shows that the profit for each stakeholder in the plantation wood value chain is unfair. Comparative data was based on the profit per ton of fresh peeled wood. The profit margin to total cost of plantation growers is higher than that of other stakeholders; however, they only recover their costs after 4 years of plantation. Due to the specific terrain characteristics with high slopes, transportation and exploitation have not been planned, so it is necessary to have an intermediary stage to collect, exploit, preliminary process, and transport. Based on these findings, the study made some recommendations for stakeholders directly participating in the value chain and those supporting the chain in order to sustainably develop Dak Lak province’s plantation wood value chain.
