Published: July 22, 2026
Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between social capital and households’ income from rice production in the Mekong River Delta’s coastal areas. The study’s data was collected from face-to-face interviews with 220 rice households in Soc Trang and Tra Vinh provinces. Descriptive statistics and ordinary least squares regression were employed to analyze the collected data. The study’s results show that the participation of households into organizations of farmers, the use of social media, and access to agricultural extension have significantly positive impacts on households’ income from rice production. It implies that social networks play a crucial role in the improvement of returns from rice farming, contributing to the total income of rice households in the Mekong River Delta’s coastal areas.
