Factors affecting the digital transformation of logistics activities: A case study of retail businesses in Hanoi city

Abstract

Digital transformation of logistics services is one of inevitable business trends, especially in the retail sector. The digital transformation of businesses depends on many different factors. This study is to explore the factors affecting the digital transformation of logistics activities in retail businesses. The study’s research models and scales are based on previous research results and results from interviews with managers and leaders of 30 retail businesses in Hanoi city. The Cronbach's alpha, exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression analysis methods are used to test the study’s research model. The study shows that there are eight factors affecting the digital transformation of logistics activities in retail businesses. These factors, listed in the descending order of impacting level, are: digital human resources, leader, finance, digital technology infrastructure, legal policy and government support, Covid-19 pandemic, development strategy, and customer needs. Based on the study’s results, some solutions are proposed to promote the digital transformation of logistics activities at retail businesses in Hanoi city.
