The development of Vietnam’s corporate bond market: Current situation and solutions

Abstract
The corporate bond market helps companies reduce their dependence on traditional credit channels. Vietnam's corporate bond market has developed strongly, especially in the 2019 – 2021 period, thanks to the country’s more and more completed legal frameworks. However, the legal frameworks for corporate bond market in Vietnam still some limitations. Recently, wrongdoings of bond issuers have caused a serious deterioration in the confidence of investors, affecting negatively on the development of bond market. This paper is to provide an overview on the legal framework for corporate bonds, the current situation of Vietnam's corporate bond market, and propose some solutions to the Government of Vietnam, bond issuers and investors.
