Income distribution characteristics in the Mekong Delta

Abstract
The study explores the characteristics of household income inequality in the Mekong Delta. Based on the General Statistics Office of Vietnam’s data about the living standards, the study finds out that the level of income inequality in the Mekong Delta is not only affected by the income gap between the urban and rural areas, but also greatly driven by the income gap among households in urban areas as well as the income gap among households in rural areas. In addition, the factor of living area has more influence on the level of income inequality than that of the factor of household characteristics.
