Impact of senior managers’ educational attainment on financial performance: Evidence from listed real estate firms in Vietnam

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the educational attainment of CEOs and chief accountants on return on equity (ROE) among 69 listed real estate firms in Vietnam during the 2018–2025 period. The estimation results using the FGLS method show that the educational attainment of both CEOs and chief accountants has a positive effect on ROE, with the effect of chief accountants being stronger than that of CEOs. In addition, total asset turnover, net working capital, and firm age have positive effects on profitability, while firm size has a negative effect. The study contributes additional empirical evidence on the role of senior management teams, especially chief accountants, in the performance of listed real estate firms in Vietnam.
