Halal tourism and its development potential in Nghe An: Current status and solutions

Abstract

Halal tourism is a rapidly growing market segment globally, with 176 million tourist arrivals in 2024 and projected to reach 245 million by 2030, with estimated spending of USD 230 billion. This study analyzes the potential and current state of Halal tourism development in Nghe An, by comparing it with the experiences of OIC and non-OIC countries as well as pioneering localities in Vietnam. . On this basis, the study proposes a three-phase development strategy focusing on infrastructure, Halal certification, workforce training, tourism promotion , and international cooperation, to position Nghe An as a Muslim-friendly travel destination.
