Current situation and solutions for transitioning to green logistics models among Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises

Abstract

In the context of economic integration and increasing sustainability pressures, the transition toward green logistics has become an urgent requirement for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. The findings identify four major barriers: financial constraints and high initial investment costs, outdated technological infrastructure, a shortage of human resources with ESG expertise, and inconsistencies in the legal and regulatory framework. On this basis, the study proposes a comprehensive set of solutions structured around four pillars: improving institutions and policies, accelerating digital transformation, expanding access to green credit, and developing human resources in conjunction with stronger supply chain linkages. The study provides a scientific foundation and practical implications for policymakers and enterprises in developing effective and sustainable roadmaps for greening logistics activities.
