Development of supporting industries for solar energy transition in Vietnam: Opportunities, challenges, and prospects

Abstract
Vietnam has significant potential to expand solar panel manufacturing and renewable energy supporting industries, particularly in module assembly, component production, and energy storage applications. However, challenges remain, including dependence on imported materials and technologies, limited domestic recycling infrastructure, environmental management concerns, and increasing pressure to comply with global sustainability standards. Battery energy storage systems are identified as key technologies for improving renewable energy integration and grid flexibility. This study emphasizes the importance of enhancing industrial localization, technological capacity, recycling systems, and long-term policy frameworks to strengthen Vietnam’s competitiveness in the global clean energy supply chain.
