Abstract
This study analyzes individual customer lending at Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank - Ho Chi Minh City Branch during 2017 - 2021 using secondary data from financial statements, business performance reports, and credit reports. The findings show that individual customer loan balances increased steadily, their share of total lending expanded, and the credit portfolio shifted toward production and business loans. Net interest income from individual lending also rose substantially, while profitability per unit of outstanding loans improved throughout the period. These results confirm the growing importance of retail lending to the branch’s business performance. The study recommends diversifying credit products, expanding lending to household businesses and microenterprises, strengthening borrower assessment and post-disbursement monitoring, applying digital technologies, and maintaining an appropriate balance between growth, profitability, and credit risk.
