Intellectual property assets as a driver of the Provincial Innovation Index in Can Tho City

This study provides an overview of the Provincial Innovation Index and analyzes Can Tho City’s performance in the knowledge, creative, and technological output pillar. Using secondary data from reports issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology and qualitative analysis, the study identifies areas requiring substantial improvement, particularly intangible assets and knowledge diffusion. It proposes measures to enhance the city’s innovation outputs by protecting and commercializing intellectual property generated from scientific research, strengthening technology transfer, and developing intellectual property associated with OCOP and other key local products. These measures are expected to improve business competitiveness, raise Can Tho City’s Provincial Innovation Index, and support innovation-driven sustainable development through 2030.
