Common digital payment methods in Vietnam

Abstract
This study examines the evolution of digital payment methods in Vietnam over the period 2021 - 2025 within the broader context of national digital transformation. The findings indicate a marked expansion in both the volume and value of cashless transactions, driven primarily by the rapid adoption of mobile banking services and QR code–based payments. Mobile Money has played a notable role in extending financial inclusion, particularly in rural and underserved areas. However, the acceleration of digital payment adoption has also heightened cybersecurity risks and exposed gaps in the existing regulatory framework. Overall, the study provides a comprehensive assessment of the growth dynamics and emerging challenges of Vietnam’s digital payment ecosystem.
