Border trade development in An Giang province: Current status, key challenges, and strategic directions

Benefiting from its strategic location and border crossings adjacent to Cambodia, border trade constitutes a vital channel for socio-economic development in An Giang province. In recent years, border trade activities in An Giang have recorded notable progress, contributing to local economic growth and cross-border exchange. Nevertheless, the sector continues to face significant challenges, including limitations in border-gate infrastructure and logistics, high goods circulation costs, administrative bottlenecks, the limited competitiveness of enterprises and small traders, as well as persistent smuggling and trade fraud. Through an analysis of the current situation and these constraints, this study provides a comprehensive assessment of the factors shaping the development of border trade in An Giang, offering an analytical foundation for enhancing its efficiency and long-term sustainability.
