Vietnam’s textile and garment exports in a phase of recovery and structural breakthrough

The textile and garment industry remains a cornerstone of Vietnam’s export structure and a key contributor to its trade balance. After experiencing a downturn due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the sector has demonstrated a strong recovery, with export revenues reaching US$43.7 billion in 2024 and projected to rise to US$46 billion in 2025. Beyond the expansion in export volume, the quality of growth has improved markedly, as reflected in an increase in the domestic value-added ratio to approximately 52%. This study examines the evolution of Vietnam’s textile and garment exports over the period 2010–2025 and proposes policy and strategic solutions to foster sustainable development, with a particular emphasis on greening and digitalization.
