Financial Support Policies for Workers Affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic of Countries in the World and the Current Situation in Vietnam

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has severely impacted the socio-economic development of Vietnam and it has worsened the country’s labor, employment and social security issues. It is estimated that the number of people who lost their jobs accounted for about 5%, the number of people who had their working hours cut or were forced to take time off from work accounted for about 50% of the total employed people in Vietnam. This is weakening the purchasing power and negatively affecting the lives of workers. To overcome the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Vietnam has developed and implemented many financial support policies for workers based on experiences from other countries around the world.
