Published: August 1, 2026
Abstract
This study analyzes the influence of determinants in attracting foreign direct investment in low and middle-income countries. In the study, a regression model is used to evaluate impacts of determinants such as GDP, degree of openness, consumer price index, degree of urbanization, political stability index and environmental performance index on the attraction of foreign direct investment in low and middle-income countries. The study finds out that the factors of GDP, degree of openness and environmental performance index have significantly positive impacts on the attraction of foreign direct investment while the factor of degree of urbanization has a negative impact on the attraction of foreign direct investment in low-middle-income countries. There is no supporting evidence for impacts of the factors of political stability index and consumer price index on the foreign direct investment in low-middle-income countries.
