Improving the capital deployment efficiency of transport infrastructure investment projects in Vietnam

Abstract

Through discussing the relationship between possible causes and potential solutions, this study is to improve the capital deployment efficiency of transport infrastructure investment projects in Vietnam. The causes of cost overruns in transport project lifecycle stages can be attributed to the stakeholders’ limited technical knowledge, the weak economy of countries or investors, psychological behavior, and political influences. Based on these results, some solutions for different stages of the project life cycle are proposed to increase the project’s overall efficiency. These solutions focus on minimizing cost fluctuations in stages of the project, and maximizing created values of the project while maintaining essential features, functions, and characteristics of the project.
