Factors affect the shrimp farmers’ choice of shrimp farming methods in Tra Vinh province

This study analyzes the factors affecting the shrimp farmers’ choice of shrimp farming methods, including intensive, semi-intensive, and extensive farming methods, in Tra Vinh province. The study’s results show that 3 out of 4 independent variables have impacts on the shrimp farming household’s choice of shrimp farming method. These factors are the number of years of experience, the education level of the householder, and the household's access to credit. Based on these results, some policy implications are proposed to develop Tra Vinh province’s shrimp farming sector in accordance with Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee’s shrimp farming intensification strategies and planning in order to effectively exploit the provincial natural advantages, and achieve the highest economic efficiency.
