The economic efficiency and potential of growing Allium chinensis in Tam Nong district, Dong Thap province

This study examines the economic efficiency and potential of growing Allium chinensis in Tam Nong district, Dong Thap province to understand the current situation and opportunities to increase profits for farmers. The study’s results show that the profit from growing Allium chinensis is 24.1 million VND per 1,000 m² and the return on investment (ROI) is 1.1. The study also finds that farmers still face difficulties in terms of farming techniques and market access during cultivation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the farming capacity of farmers, create links among farmers and technical experts, and improve farmers’ market access in order to enhance the economic efficiency of this Allium chinensis farming model.
