The population structure and its impact on the economic development of Vietnam

Abstract
A large population is an advantage and also a weakness for the economic development of country. The population structure plays a key role in the national economic development. It is necessary to determine the population structure of Vietnam and the relationship between the countrys population structure and its economic development in order to work out appropriate economic development solutions. This paper explores the relationship between Vietnam’s population structure and its national economic development by analyzing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and average GDP indicators. The VAR model is also applied to determine the relationship and the mutual influence between these indicators. This approach ensures the scientific rationality, meeting meeting the needs of policy makers when they make population plans
