Optimizing the planning of solar power plants by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process algorithm

Abstract

Solar energy is the biggest renewable energy source in 2020 both in the world and in Vietnam. However, it is necessary to have specific planning on capacity scale and area of solar power projects for the sustainable and safe development of local and regional power grids in Vietnam. This study examines the optimization of planning of solar power plants in Hau Giang Province by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) algorithm. The study’s results show that among six studied criteria for planning and optimizing planning of solar power plants, the road distance and power line distance are the most important criteria. Based on these results, Hoa Luu power plant project should be invested firstly. It is followed by Nuoc Ngot Lake project and Long Phu project.
