Assessing the impact of financial data sharing models

Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology (Fintech) and the banking sector’s digital transformation has accelerated the emergence of financial data-sharing frameworks, commonly known as Open Banking. This model enables banks, financial institutions, and Fintech companies to securely and transparently access and exchange customer data through standardized interfaces such as APIs. This study analyzes the theoretical foundations of Open Banking, assesses its potential benefits and associated risks for both customers and financial institutions, and proposes policy recommendations to support the effective and responsible implementation of Open Banking in Vietnam.
