Impact of Vietnam's Net Zero Commitment on the Underwriting Activities of Non-Life Insurance Companies

Vietnam is among the countries most vulnerable to climate change, prompting strong national commitments to environmentally sustainable development. At COP26, the Vietnamese Government pledged to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Building on this commitment, this study examines the impact of the Net Zero target on the underwriting activities of non-life insurance companies in Vietnam. It analyzes how the transition toward a low-carbon economy influences insurance underwriting operations, risk structures, and market demand. Based on the findings, the study proposes strategic directions and practical solutions to help non-life insurers align their business activities with Net Zero objectives while taking advantage of emerging opportunities to develop innovative insurance products suited to the evolving business environment.
