Advancing science, technology, and innovation as cornerstones of Vietnam’s growth model under Resolution 57-NQ/TW

Amid ongoing efforts to renew Vietnam’s growth model, the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated 22 December 2024 underscores science-technology and innovation-creativity as core drivers of socioeconomic development. This marks a significant shift in development thinking from viewing science-technology as a supportive production tool to positioning science-technology and innovation-creativity as intrinsic engines of growth. This paper examines the theoretical foundations and current status of science-technology and innovation-creativity development in Vietnam, identifying key achievements as well as persistent limitations. Based on this analysis, the study proposes a set of policy solutions aimed at embedding science-technology and innovation-creativity as central pillars of the new growth model, thereby enhancing productivity, strengthening national competitiveness, and elevating Vietnam’s position in the global landscape.
