Applying the ContLink platform to reduce logistics costs and promote green transportation in Vietnam

Abstract

In recent years, Vietnam’s logistics industry has expanded rapidly but continues to face significant challenges, particularly high operational costs and the persistent issue of empty container imbalance. The empty-container problem not only increases logistics expenses but also disrupts supply chain efficiency and sustainability. This study examines the current situation of empty container management in Vietnam and evaluates the potential of a digital platform that directly connects empty containers with shippers. Based on this analysis, the study proposes the application of the ContLink platform as a solution to optimize logistics costs, reduce container repositioning waste, and promote greener, more sustainable transportation practices.
