Linking institutional, resource, and technological factors to economic efficiency: A theoretical model of reverse logistics in Vietnamese consumer goods enterprises

Abstract

This study proposes an integrated theoretical model that explains how institutional factors, organizational resources, and technological capabilities influence economic outcomes through the mediating role of reverse logistics in consumer goods enterprises. Grounded in three foundational theoretical perspectives including Institutional Theory, the Resource-Based View (RBV), and Sustainability Theory, the study develops a comprehensive analytical framework that illustrates the transformation of external pressures and internal strengths into economic performance via the adoption and implementation of reverse logistics practices. The proposed model provides a robust foundation for future empirical research and offers important managerial implications for Vietnamese enterprises in designing sustainable logistics strategies, improving economic efficiency, and strengthening compliance with environmental regulations.
