affairs in Vietnam’s northern border provinces
in the new context

The combination of socio-economic development with national defense, security and foreign affairs in the northern border provinces of Vietnam is contributing to creating advantages in regional development in particular and national development in general. However, besides the achievements in economic development as well as national defense and security activities and foreign affairs, there are still some problems. In the article, the author focuses on analyzing the current situation of economic development activities, national defense and security activities and foreign affairs activities, thereby initially proposing general and specific groups of solutions to perfect institutions and policies in combining socio-economic development with national defense, security and foreign affairs in the northern border provinces of Vietnam in the current context.
