Developing Vietnam’s seaports into transshipment hubs in ASEAN

This study examined the opportunities and challenges in advancing maritime cargo transport cooperation in Vietnam. Employing qualitative methods and a comprehensive review of prior research, the study highlighted Vietnam's potential to develop its seaports into transshipment hubs for the ASEAN region. However, significant barriers persist, including limitations in fleet human resources, technical capacity, infrastructure, and legal frameworks. Drawing lessons from Singapore's successful maritime strategies, the study proposed actionable solutions to enhance Vietnam's maritime transport capabilities in the future.
