Impacts of RCEP on Vietnam's Textile and Garment Exports

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) on Vietnam's textile and garment exports using the SMART model. It aims to quantify the effects of RCEP on Vietnam's textile and garment exports to the agreement's member countries. The SMART model is characterized by the removal of tariffs among member countries, thereby creating opportunities for export activities. The signing of RCEP by the ten ASEAN member states and five partner countries has generated new opportunities for Vietnam's textile and garment export industry. However, it also poses significant challenges, particularly in terms of increasing competition within the regional market.
