Impacts of FDI on Vietnam’s Economic Growth

Abstract

Foreign direct investment (FDI) plays an indispensable role in trade liberalization and global economic integration through export activities. Besides its positive contributions, FDI has also generated negative impacts on the natural environment, while its spillover effects remain limited. Using descriptive statistical methods based on secondary data, this study clarifies the positive impacts as well as the limitations of FDI on Vietnam’s economic growth over recent years. Based on the findings, the paper proposes several solutions to help Vietnam maximize the positive impacts of FDI while minimizing its potential risks to national economic growth.
