The Current Corporate Governance of Companies Listed on the Vietnamese Stock Market

Corporate governance involves the identification of effective mechanisms that enable shareholders to monitor the management of their companies and protect their interests. The Board of Directors (BoD) serves as an important internal control mechanism, supervising the company on behalf of shareholders while helping manage and control the risks faced by the company. Theories and empirical studies on corporate governance consistently indicate a relationship between corporate governance, corporate performance, and business risk. This study analyzes the current state of corporate governance among companies listed on the Vietnamese stock market during the period from 2015 to 2023. Based on the findings, several recommendations are proposed to help listed companies in Vietnam improve their corporate governance practices.
