Abstract
University social responsibility has increasingly become a matter of attention and research from scholars around the world and also in Vietnam. Besides the traditional functions such as innovation, dissemination of wisdom and knowledge, research and technology transfer, community functions and social responsibility are also the top priorities of universities when building their development strategies. For Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), the motto “university autonomy associated with enhancing social responsibility” is integrated and specifically implemented in the university’s development strategy. This paper presented an overview of the theoretical basis, aspects, and trends of university social responsibility. The paper also introduced how social responsibility is implemented in IUH’s strategy.
