Green transition in Vietnamese coal mining enterprises: An integrated analytical framework

Abstract

This study proposes an analytical framework for the green transition of Vietnamese coal mining enterprises through a purposive synthesis of the literature integrating Institutional Theory, Dynamic Capabilities Theory, and Circular Economy principles. The framework links institutional pressures, dynamic capabilities, transition practices, and sustainability outcomes. Appropriate financing is expected to facilitate the translation of organizational capabilities into transition practices, whereas dependence on specialized assets may constrain this process. Five research propositions and a set of indicators are developed with clearly specified levels of analysis and measurement periods. The discussion further addresses the potential nonlinear effects of financial slack and the identification of differences in institutional pressures across enterprises. The proposed framework provides a foundation for future empirical testing at both enterprise and mine levels.
