E-commerce and environmental impact: Opportunities and challenges

Abstract

E-commerce (E-commerce) refers to business information exchanges that do not require paperwork and involves online shopping, online stock and bond transactions, downloading and selling "soft goods," as well as business-to-business transactions. E-commerce has developed due to the high integration of transportation infrastructure, information technology, and communications. The rapid growth of e-commerce underpins various environmental impacts, both positive and negative. This paper explores studies on the environmental impacts of e-commerce and focuses on raising awareness about these effects on humans.
