Exploring the Relationship between Insurance Growth and Economic Growth in Vietnam

Abstract

This quantitative study examined the causal relationship between insurance growth and economic growth in Vietnam, using time series data for the period 2005-2022. In this study, economic growth is measured by the Gross National Income. Insurance growth is measured by life insurance premium revenue, non-life insurance premium revenue, and the investment of the insurance industry in the economy. Data were analyzed through stationary tests, cointegration tests, regression analysis, and Granger causality tests. The results showed that there is a close relationship between insurance growth and economic growth. However, the relationships between economic growth and different indicators of insurance growth are different.
