Abstract
This study clarified the role of international economic integration in expanding markets from a theoretical perspective. The study presented an overview of the international economic integration achievements of Vietnam in terms of expanding markets through free trade agreements (FTAs) and import-export turnover over the years. In addition, the study analyzed the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, clarifying the opportunities and challenges of developing and expanding the market through new-generation FTAs. Based on the study's findings, some solutions were proposed to promote Vietnam's international economic integration process in the post-COVID-19 era. For example, the government should continue to build and improve the legal system and create a healthy and transparent business environment to properly implement commitments when Vietnam joins new-generation FTAs. Businesses need to improve the quality of export products, fully grasp information about new generation FTAs, and improve their competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets.
