Carbon credit market: International experience and Vietnam's policy framework
Published: July 25, 2026
Abstract
This study evaluates international experiences in carbon credit market management, with a particular focus on models from the European Union, the United States, and other leading countries. It combines a comprehensive review of global practices with an in-depth analysis of Vietnam’s current policies and market conditions to propose strategies for the effective development of its carbon credit market. Key recommendations include enhancing the legal and regulatory framework, establishing a centralized national database, raising public and business awareness, investing in advanced monitoring technologies, and strengthening international cooperation. These measures are expected to support Vietnam in fulfilling its greenhouse gas emission reduction commitments while promoting sustainable economic development and environmental protection.
