Assessing the impact of foreign direct investment on the competitiveness of Vietnam's coffee exporting enterprises

Abstract
This study examines the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) on the competitiveness of coffee-exporting enterprises in Vietnam. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research analyzes data from 80 enterprises during the 2014–2023 period. The findings reveal that FDI positively influences firm competitiveness, with human resource development emerging as the most significant contributing factor. Based on these insights, the study proposes several policy recommendations aimed at maximizing the benefits of FDI. These include fostering stronger collaboration between domestic and foreign-invested enterprises, enhancing the investment climate, and promoting technological innovation to support long-term, sustainable competitiveness in the coffee export sector.
