Challenges and solutions for advancing wind power in Vietnam

Net Zero, or "Net Zero Emissions," is an environmental objective aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO₂, CH₄, and N₂O, to levels that are balanced with the Earth's natural and technological carbon absorption capacities. Achieving this goal requires not only enhancing carbon sinks through afforestation, forest conservation, and carbon capture and storage technologies, but also significantly reducing emissions from major sectors such as transportation, industrial production, and electricity generation. Among these, the sustainable development of wind power plays a crucial role. However, the path toward Net Zero in Vietnam is fraught with considerable challenges affecting the efficiency and viability of wind power projects. This study examines these key challenges, including policy limitations, investment barriers, technical constraints, and environmental impacts. Based on this analysis, the study proposes targeted solutions to improve project performance and promote the sustainable expansion of wind energy in Vietnam's transition to a low-carbon economy.
