The contribution of foreign banks to the development of Vietnam's banking industry

Abstract

Since the transition from a single-tier banking system to a two-tier banking system in the 1990s, Vietnam's economy has witnessed a process of innovation accompanied by financial liberalization. More and more foreign banks are entering the Vietnamese market. These foreign banks have contributed to the development of Vietnam's banking industry. For example, they have brought international banking standards, provided high-quality services, and cooperated with domestic banks to create a healthy financial market. This paper presents the characteristics of the Vietnamese banking market and highlights the contribution of foreign banks to the development of Vietnam's banking industry.
