Factors affecting the retention of healthcare workers in public hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

This study identifies the factors affecting the retention of healthcare workers in public hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City. A quantitative research method is used, and the study’s data is collected from 300 healthcare workers working for public hospitals through surveys. The study finds three factors, including common work values, flexibility in working hours, and salary, affecting the retention. In addition, the analysis of variance shows there are statistically significant differences between the groups of working time, income, and age. Based on the study’s findings, two solutions are proposed to help public hospitals better retain their healthcare workers.
