A study on the relationship between the employee satisfaction, employee engagement, and business performance of retail companies in Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi

Abstract

This study clarifies the impact of satisfaction and engagement on the performance of retail companies in the Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi. The study’s data was collected through 272 valid questionnaires out of 450 sent-out questionnaires that surveyed sales employees of retail companies in the Bac Tu Liem district. By using the PLS-SEM linear structural model on SPSS and AMOS 20 software, the study identifies human resource factors that affect the performance of retail companies. In details, the Personal honors (PEH) and the Leadership capacity have a positive impact on the Employee Satisfaction (EMS), with an impact coefficient of 0.272 and 0.019, respectively. In addition, the EMS has a positive impact on the Employee Engagement (EME) with an impact coefficient of 0.053, and the EME has a positive impact on Business Performance Results (BPR) with the highest impact coefficient of 0.809. In contrast, there is no evidence that the Brand of a Retail Business (CORB) has an impact on the EMS.
