Developing Vietnam’s tourism human resources towards the goal of sustainable tourism

Abstract

Human resources are one of the important factors determining the sustainability of tourism. In Vietnam, the development of tourism human resources has received attention in recent years, and it has achieved positive results, contributing to the overall growth of tourism industry as well as the national’s socio-economic development. However, some limitations of Vietnam’s tourism human resources have been pointed out, such as the lack of quality human resources, and the poor quality, especially weak soft and foreign language skills. It requires Vietnam to have synchronous and unified solutions that focus on improving the training quality and the payment for employees of the tourism industry. This paper analyzes the role and the current situation of Vietnam’s tourism human resources in order to find out appropriate solutions for the development of human resources towards the goal of sustainable tourism.
