Impacts of climate change in the Northwest subregion of Vietnam

Abstract

This study explores the current climate change in the Northwest subregion of Vietnam. The study’s results show that in recent years, extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and more intense, and they negatively affects the lives of local people, reduces the arable land, causes great damage to agricultural activities, and poses further risks for food insecurity. The study also finds out that vulnerable groups (the poor and ethnic minorities) in the Northwest subregion are unable to withstand and adapt to climate change.
