Factors affecting the sustainable fashion consumption behaviors of the youth in Hanoi

Abstract
Vietnam is a potential textile and garment market. However, it is necessary to consider the negative impacts of textile and garment production on our health and overall environment. Textile and garment production and unsustainable behaviors in purchasing and using clothes are responsible for water, air and soil pollution in big cities like Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general. This study is to explore the factors affecting the sustainable behaviors of the youth in Hanoi city in purchasing and using clothes. Based on the study’s findings, some implications are made to promote the sustainable fashion consumption behaviors of the youth in Hanoi in particular and Vietnamese youth in general. The study finds out that the factors of concern over the environment, consumer attitudes, financial conditions, external influences, fashion products and green marketing all positively affect the sustainable fashion consumption behaviors of the youth. In which, the factor of consumer attitudes is the most influential factor.
