Impacts of international political events on Vietnames enterprises

This study examines the fluctuation of production, sales and business acctivities of Vietnamese enterprises in different industries including oil and gas, transportation and food processing when the Russia-Ukraine conflict occurred in the period from Q1 to Q2 2022. By uisng the statistical comparison method, the study’s results show that there are changes in the revenue, profit and other indicators measuring the busines performance of studied enterprises. For example, in the oil & gas industry, while Vietnam Gas Corporation, Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company, and Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Joint Stock Company experienced better financial indicators, other businesses witnessed worse business performance compared to the previous quarter. Transport enterprises received benefits from the increase in freight rates, prices of commodities and they also recorded increases in imports and exports. The Russia-Ukraine conflict was consideed a great opportunity for food manufacturers in Vietnam but they faced many difficulties to grasp this opportunity. In general, as Vietnam’s economy has deeply integrated into the global economy, the slower global economic growth and the higher inflation will affect Vietnamese enterprises.
