The relationship between artificial intelligence characteristics and student academic performance at Van Lang University

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) characteristics and student academic performance at Van Lang University. Based on a survey sample of 130 students and a mixed-method research approach, the model demonstrates high reliability and goodness of fit. The results indicate that variables including “limitations in AI usage,” “level of AI usage,” and “attitudes toward AI usage” have statistically significant relationships with academic performance, with usage level exerting the strongest effect. Notably, regression results reveal that excessive and unguided AI usage may negatively affect academic outcomes. The findings suggest that AI can only be effective when used consciously, purposefully, and in combination with critical thinking.
